JAN PFEIFFER ANNOUNCED AS EXECUTIVE CHEF AT RIO MAR BEACH RESORT & SPA, A WYNDHAM GRAND RESORT

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico (March 20, 2009) – Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa, A Wyndham Grand Resort, today announced the appointment of Jan Pfeiffer as the resort’s new executive chef. Bringing an abundance of experience and expertise to the table and kitchen, Pfeiffer offers brilliant epicurean creations for those guests longing for an escape from the ordinary.

As executive chef at Wyndham Rio Mar, Pfeiffer oversees all culinary programs at the resort, with diverse menus found at each of the six restaurants. From Palio’s award winning Italian cuisine & the Grille Room’s tender steak dinners overlooking two championship golf courses to Shima’s decadent sushi bar & Seabreezes’ outside poolside dining, Wyndham Rio Mar is an ideal locale for casual and fine dining.

As a graduate of a four-year German Culinary Arts program, Pfeiffer has worked for Steigenberger Hotels as well as the highly renowned Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten in Hamburg, Germany, one of the most prestigious leading hotels in the world.

In 1994 Pfeiffer began working for Culinary Trends Magazine Publisher & Executive Chef Fred Mensinga at the Hilton Anaheim & Towers. While there, Pfeiffer earned numerous leadership awards, the Les Toques Blanches Chef of the Year Award in 2005 and consecutive Gold Awards from the Southern Californian Restaurant Writers Association.
Most recently Pfeiffer has been working as the executive chef at the Waldorf Astoria Collection, LaQuinta Resort and Club & PGA West. At LaQuinta, Pfeiffer was in charge of leading an entire $40 million culinary resort operation, including profound involvement in all five private and public golf club culinary operations for PGA.
