The area receives over 100 billion gallons of rainfall each year, coming in very brief rainbow showers that end almost as soon as they begin. Camuy Caves Excursion -
Begin with a relaxing drive to the north side of the island towards the city of Arecibo, past pineapple farms and lush rolling hills to Rio Camuy Park. This extensive subterranean cave system is the largest in the Western Hemisphere, sprawling along Camuy River, the world's largest underground river. Pass age-old stalactites and stalagmites as you explore the enormous caves by foot. The caves and sinkholes created by the river offer a beautiful photographic opportunity.
