Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Puerto Rico Golf & Beach Resort
Hosts First Annual “Taste of Rio Mar” The Ultimate Food & Wine Experience
RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico (October 16, 2019)-- Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Puerto Rico Golf & Beach Resort has announced its first annual Taste of Rio Mar culinary weekend, November 1-3, 2019. Headlined by Top Chef alum Jeff McInnis, the three-day event will also feature appearances from renowned Puerto Rican chefs José Mendín, Jose Enrique, Maria Mercedes Grubb, Jorge Cátala and the resort’s executive chef Ramón Carrillo.
Taste of Rio Mar highlights local cuisine and introduces travelers to the flavors of the island while celebrating the recent debut of its Iguanas Cocina Puertorriqueña restaurant. All proceeds will benefit Visit Rico, a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the island’s agricultural economy, as part of the resort’s commitment towards Puerto Rico’s recovery.
Throughout the course of the weekend, the chefs will fuse their signature styles with the flavors of Puerto Rico for a unique gastronomic experience. The weekend line-up includes:
Friday, November 1:
Welcome Reception: The epicurean weekend will kick off at the resort’s newest restaurant, Iguanas Cocina Puertorriqueña. This culinary showcase will feature six stations where each chef will combine his/her cooking style with island flavors to create a unique twist on classic dishes. Each station will pair the small bites with a selection of esoteric wines and locally crafted beers from the award-winning Old Harbor Brewery.
Saturday, November 2:
Wine Luncheon Affair: Saturday begins with a seafood and white wine culinary journey at Iguanas Cocina Puertorriqueña. The plated four-course meal will be led by chefs Jeff McInnis, Maria Mercedes Grubb, Jorge Cátala and executive chef Ramón Carrillo, who will use fresh seafood and seasonal produce to create a beautiful feast showcasing local flavors.
Dinner Rendez-vous: The event will culminate with an exclusive six-course gala dinner and wine-pairing that will combine the culinary genius of José Mendín, Jose Enrique, Jeff McInnis, Maria Mercedes Grubb, Jorge Cátala and executive chef Ramón Carrillo and pay homage to Puerto Rico’s rich culinary heritage.
Sunday, November 3:
Brunch À La Mode: Chefs José Mendín, Jeff McInnis, Maria Mercedes Grubb, Jorge Cátala and executive chef Ramón Carrillo will unite to send guests off with a plentiful farewell brunch. Set inside Iguanas Cocina Puertorriqueña, the brunch will feature an impressive spread complete with pastries, savory dishes, local delicacies, sweet treats and brunch cocktails. Proceeds from this event will benefit Visit Rico, a local charity dedicated to strengthening Puerto Rico’s agricultural economy.
Wyndham Grand Rio Mar invites guests to experience the culinary showcase through its Taste of Rio Mar Ultimate Package. Based on double occupancy, rates start at $980 and include accommodations for three days, two nights, access to all events, breakfast buffet, valet parking, 30-minute spa treatment, one round of golf and a special welcome amenity.
